There are lots of “Things to watch for” this summer on the Maryland racing circuit!!
Lots of local rivalries (all in fun by the way) and close match-ups are on the horizon. Ron Gossard of Ocean City has been “The Man” for the past 2 seasons in the Maryland racing world, easily beating everyone. Can he continue his DOMINANCE or can some of the young guns like Brian Meyer, Goose Norman, Jeremiah Lyons, Emerson Smith, Mark Nelson or Basil Tydings (not young ) sneak up and give him a run?
Neil Macindoe of Annapolis has been one of the top guys in the area for years. This year he has a target on his back with the likes of Sandy Deeley, Ben Butterwei, Jeff Cook, Bryan Barton, Chris Sperry, Larry Lubbers, and Mark McCullah all gunning for him!
Dawn Ehman of Ocean City has been the fastest female in the Maryland SUP scene for the past couple years. Is there an unknown out there waiting to surprise her this season?
There is also a rumor of some new unknown guys up in Western Maryland and out in Ocean City getting some super fast race boards looking to make their presence known.
We also have the battle of the Maryland weathermen coming up!! Wyatt Everhart (ABC Baltimore) and Brian Keane (WBOC Delmarva) were both on all-around boards last year and finished neck and neck at pretty much every race. This season they both upgraded to 14’ speed sleds and will be battling it out for the title of “Fastest MD Weatherman”. If you follow them on Facebook you may have noticed a trash talking feud between the two of them that was pretty hilarious. So, whose side are you on Team Everhart (Western shore) or Team Keane (Eastern Shore) ?? haha…
These are the fun rivalries that make the local races great to follow. Everyone goes out paddles hard then has a beer and some fun after. We have one of the tightest knit racing communities that I know of and we travel deep!!
Can’t wait for race season!!!!
