What a day!! Dawn did it again, lots of racers, awesome swag bags and even better vibes!!! The wind was steady at the start of the race but picked up substantially after lap one and seemed to get a little stronger after every lap.
Dawn had her famous super buoy out so there was a lot of strategy involved with this race. The fastest guys broke off into two groups at the start! Ron, Nick and a few others chose to save the super buoy until then end where as Goose, Brian M and a big group decided to take the shorter lap first. It was almost impossible to tell who was in the lead because of this and it made for an exciting finish. Ron Gossard was able to take the win with Goose coming in 2nd and Brian S rounding out the top 3. Brian Meyer took the win in the 12’6 class with Mark Nelson coming in 2nd and Trevor Raithby coming in 3rd. On the ladies side April Z from NC took the Win, followed by Lisa Long and Lianne Dunbar.
With the wind picking up during the race saving the shorter buoy till the end seemed to be the way to go. See full results here https://paddleguru.com/races/SurfSwapChallenge2015
Also we just want to remind everyone that these races are all about having fun. If you get angry at one of these races for whatever reason that means you should not be racing. There is NOTHING that should get people worked up at fun local races, this is not California 🙂
