The Sup Annapolis and KIOCC race was a huge success. Over 100 paddlers from all over the state and surrounding states came together to race, they were treated with some awesome paddling conditions in August. Wyatt Everhart hooked us up with overcast, cool, and dry conditions.
The Elite races were extremely close again (talking seconds). In the Men’s 14′ class it was a 3 way battle for most of the race, with Goose Norman (Annapolis) taking the win and Brian Meyer (Annapolis) and Ron Gossard (OC) right behind him. In the Men’s 12’6 Scott Jorse (DC) took the win and it was a photo finish for 2nd with Shendan Grove (Annapolis) just edging out Chris Sperry (Annapolis). On the ladies side it was another epic battle with Dawn Ehman (OC) just edging out Corrine Banks (OC) by a few seconds. Karen Appolony took 3rd.

They also had a pretty sweet after party. There was good food, awesome beer from local RAR Brewing (Cambridge) and lots of prizes raffled off. It is great to be competitive but this is really what the sport is all about, getting some healthy exercise and having fun with other people who enjoy the sport as much as you do.
Next up on the local race circuit is the Chesapeake Paddle Fest on the 16th and then Dawn Ehmans OC race on Aug 23rd. Be there
