This is the first paddling rescue that we have heard of in MD. We don’t know many details but glad to hear somebody saw him and he is ok. Just a reminder to be extra careful when you are paddling solo especially this time of year, thankfully he had a wetsuit on. It only takes a second for something to happen especially in conditions like yesterday
“The Coast Guard was dispatched again at 2:49 p.m. for reports of a paddleboarder in the water at the mouth of the Severn River near Greenbury Point.
Hatfield said someone on shore spotted paddleboarder in distress and called authorities. He said that an Anne Arundel fire boat arrived on the scene first and rescued the man, who was wearing a wetsuit.
A small craft advisory had been issued for Sunday, with northwest winds at 20 to 35 mph and gusts up to 40 mph. Waves were forecast to be a choppy three feet.” See full article here http://www.capitalgazette.com/news/for_the_record/ph-ac-cn-digests-boat-rescue-0316-20150315,0,10111.story
