We have gotten a few emails asking what happened to the BOW this year?! The Battle Of the Weathermen was between Baltimore’s Wyatt Everhart and Ocean City’s Brian Keane. They battled it out in the surf class the year before and were pretty close in most of the races.
This summer they both got new 14’ boards and upped their rivalry. Keane took the first 3 races of the year and then suffered an injury during a cross-fit competition; he had a slap tear of his labrum and a partial tear of his rotator cuff which he will have surgery on this off-season. Wyatt Everhart had been training hard and logging a lot of miles getting ready to take Brian Keane down in the BOP 4 but unfortunately he never got his chance. The trash talking continues but the racing will have to wait till 2015. Here is what these weathermen had to say about this season
Briean Keane- “I’m bummed about not being able to finish out the year, but looking forward to a rekindled rivalry of the BOW in 2015!” He also threw in some trash talk on the side saying he plans to keep his undefeated streak next season ha-ha.
Wyatt Everhart- “well I guess I’d just say that clearly, Mr. Keane had a speed advantage in the first few races. But I take comfort in the fact that I ultimately logged a lot more race mileage than him this race season. As to who would have beaten whom by the end of the MASRA season, it’s impossible to say. Guess, as we say in the TV news business, you’ll have to “stay tuned” for 2015!”
You can follow both of these guys all fall/winter and get the best updates on paddling weather.
